TESTIMONIALS

Katie is my favorite voice teacher I’ve worked with, hands down. There are many things I love about Katie’s coaching style, such as the fun and uplifting energy she brings to each lesson, her vast knowledge of different singings techniques, her investment in your growth, and so much more. My favorite thing about working with Katie, though, is that she helped me find my unique, individual voice. I have learned a lot about what style of music I prefer to sing, what I prefer to sing about, and who I am becoming as a person in our lessons. Because of my time working with Katie, my voice has not only grown, but the artist and dancer in me has as well.

Katie Cochrane has been my vocal teacher for over three years now and I can’t emphasize enough the wonders she has done for my voice in its developmental stage! She had guided me through a variety of genres and has pushed my voice to lengths in which I had never expected to reach. With her vast expertise of the voice she is able to accommodate different types of voices and different goals from person to person. Katie is very good and adapting her teaching to best suite the student. She has provided me with so many opportunities in my years with her and has been my biggest cheer leader. I would recommend taking lessons with Katie to anyone who wants to explore to possibilities of their voice!

I have been lucky enough to get the opportunity to work with Katie Cochrane for 3 years. Katie’s ability to make each and every one of her students comfortable and more confident is a huge asset. She has helped me so much with my vocal skills, building my range, acting through song, and really finding myself as a performer. Working with Katie has given me so many opportunities for recitals, master classes, competitions, and other opportunities to perform. One thing I really appreciated is how much Katie helped me with auditions. Whether for musicals or schools, she always gave the best advice to make sure I was putting my best foot forward. Katie has been such a huge part of my musical theatre journey and has been a massive reason why I chose to go to university for musical theatre. She has shown me the most beautiful sides of musical theatre and encouraged me to follow my dreams. On top of her amazing teaching skills, she is such a kind and talented human. It is a gift to be able to work with Katie Cochrane.

Where do I start? Katie has been an amazing vocal coach, she has brought me to a place of confidence in my voice and myself! There are so many songs I had previously shied away from that she helped me conquer, and I could not be more grateful. From a comforting and engaging environment, to constantly pushing me to be my best, I have had an absolute blast working with Katie. If I could describe it in one word I would definitely say: Priceless!
— James Esril (Acting Student at Fountain School of Performing Arts)
As a full time drama student with a background as a professional dancer a lot of the vocal techniques I’ve been introduced to are not suited for flexible bodies. Katie’s been someone I’ve been really able to count on for fine tuning my vocal work and tailoring exercises to my needs and abilities. Not only has my singing improved, my voice in general has improved. My acting teachers have commented on how free and accessible my voice is while performing, which is something I really struggled with before working with Katie.
— Emily Atkinson (Acting student at NYU Tisch)
I have been working with Katie for around three months now and I have learned so much about vocal techniques, improving my vocal range, choosing songs for my voice type, and much more. Katie is always smiling, encouraging, and makes singing fun. Working with Katie has helped my overall confidence . I would highly recommend Katie as a vocal teacher!

I was a singer twenty five years ago and though I had moments of great joy singing, I was also confounded by it. My anxiety and frustration eventually led me to stop singing and pursue other things. Life came full circle and I landed a job at a performing arts school where singing was definitely on the ticket. How do you resurrect a voice that has been locked in a box for twenty five years? … Katie Cochrane Voice Studio!
Katie offers a systematic approach to vocal production; she introduces grounded body work, breathing mechanisms, vocal anatomy and freedom of sound all in a happy, bright, encouraging environment. Katie has de-mystified singing. Everything we do makes sense and when practised, has exactly the outcome desired. One of my favourite things about our lessons is the repertoire she offers. From Italian, German, and French art songs, to arias, Golden Age musical theatre, modern Broadway fare, and of course, Sondheim! Katie has a love for all genres and teaches them beautifully.
The happiest hour of my week is spent in Katie’s studio; laughing, learning and singing. I never thought I would sing again, but with Katie’s guidance and encouragement, singing is becoming the light in my life. I am so grateful.

Katie is engaging, knowledgeable, and full of personality. She navigates the voice instruction of the beginner to the advanced vocalist and her instruction is based on solid methodology and a wide variety of music experiences which allow Katie to bring out the potential in all students. Her teaching has worked wonders for my vocal development. My endurance, range, breath control and intonation have improved dramatically.
— Scott Leonard (Music Teacher and Guitarist)
I have been taking lessons from Katie for the last 7 months and I have loved every minute of it. Despite the hardships of working through zoom, I feel that Katie has helped me grow significantly as a singer and performer. She has taught me so more more than singing techniques, she taught me how to pick the right song for an audition, how to keep my nerves in check and how to trust my instincts. Deciding to take lessons with Katie was one of the best decisions I’ve made! I would highly recommend her as a vocal coach to anyone who asked!
— Erin Smith (Acting Student at McGill University)
Working with Katie has been an absolute joy! I was a bit nervous in signing up for voice lessons as a complete beginner, but her patience and encouragement has helped me work through moments of self-doubt. I feel very grateful to work with someone so knowledgeable and passionate, and I would encourage anyone considering lessons to come discover how empowering and fun singing can be!
